My guest Ingrid spent many years trying to blow up the obstacles that got in her way…only to find out that these mountains showed up not to be moved, but to move her!
Her story reminded me that sometimes the shoulds sneakily show up as goals we believe we’ve set for ourselves…we create the game plan…decide we are going in THAT direction and then we put our heads down and just go. Giving little to no thought to what WE REALLY WANT! And along the way we stub our toes on things, fall down and we get back up and every time we put on our hard helmet and power through…like good little goal getters!
And man busy women are good at this! Have you noticed that when the pebbles you’ve been tripping on turn into rocks, then boulders, then mountains, you apply the same forceful tactics believing the harder you work the more worthy you are? So many of us believe that the more effort we put in, the more deserving we are of love and attention. And what Ingrid’s amazing story highlights for us is, sometimes the mountain shows up, not to be moved, but to move us.
My number 1 takeaway from this awesome interview is that many busy driven, accomplished + powerful (empty + numb AF) women, don’t have a habit of taking a step back and looking at how far they've come. We don’t take the time to notice that all that we've done so far has created a new, easier aligned path.
And then relying on the old belief of “it has to be hard to be good”, we turn our noses up to the easy path and things become harder. Have you noticed this too? You turn away from what comes easily and become more stuck, more overwhelmed, things just don’t work out and you keep hitting your head against that mountain convinced that it’s something you need to move? Perhaps, like with Ingrid, the mountain shows up to move you onto a better more aligned path.
